...Hey Lanny, Potatoes..I would never have guessed!
Not everyone gets along with their relatives..not everyone is alike either..just because they had the same parents and were brought up the same way...I consider myself an individual, but it has been a struggle for me..cause I am so different..and have different values:)Far Side of Fiftyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07995757632158408442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5661648985137682830.post-6834190976948550192009-08-18T07:46:02.842-07:002009-08-18T07:46:02.842-07:00I almost thought it looked like blueberry muffin m...I almost thought it looked like blueberry muffin mix or something, but it was too think. I never would have guessed blue potatoes! I've never seen blue potatoes.

Lanny, I have been very blessed to have a good relationship with my siblings. We three fought like cats and dogs growing up, and my mother used to cry because she thought we hated each other. She was an only child, too, and didn't really understand the dynamics. My sister is my best friend, and my brother and I are as close as we can be from Texas to North Carolina. Not close enough. All my family is around here fairly close. Proximity makes it difficult for a close relationship with the brother. I often wonder what would happen to that relationship if something were to happen to his wife (she's older than him) and they don't have any children. Would we lose touch or would he come back to Texas? His life is there, I doubt he'd come back this way. My sister and I also share a close relationship with the Lord, whereas my brother has been away from the church for many years. He seems to get uncomfortable when "spiritual" matters are brought up.

All we can do is keep being good Christian examples whenever our sibs ARE around us (of course - the rest of the time, too) and let our lives reflect who we belong to.
Never give up. Keep praying for them. I saw my uncle that just died turn around back to the Lord after being completely away for 30 years. The Lord still works miracles! Bless you - and thank you for your kind words of comfort to me.Vickiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07741431727993692456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5661648985137682830.post-35867406984087252112009-08-17T13:25:00.589-07:002009-08-17T13:25:00.589-07:00potatoes? dang woman, you fooled me!

I like the color of blue very, very much, but NOT the taste and texture of potatoes.Does the beautiful blue override the taste in appeal?

It is telling, I have found, when a person embraces Jesus, and believes what the Bible says is truly inspired by God, and then relays this amazing and wonderful news of God's Word and ways to family , well....all of a sudden the people who say they love us and are family will withdraw. And if they feel a tad bit convicted but are unwilling to change, then you just might risk the 'punishment' of being an outsider in your blood family. I do believe there are words that speak of this in the Bible too.

Very interesting to see the perspective a youngest child has .KathyB.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13076933273610590290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5661648985137682830.post-51335272516141019822009-08-16T19:43:51.217-07:002009-08-16T19:43:51.217-07:00I love clue corn tortillas and chips - not too sur...I love clue corn tortillas and chips - not too sure I'd be hot for blue mashed potatoes. Sorry about the family situation - one thing about a true church relationship - we choose our own family (or at least find the people God chose for us). I'm close to my one brother and grateful for that - he hasn't a solid clue about who and what I really am - but then most of the time - neither do I! Glad you have your immediate somewhat extended family (daughters, their spouses and grandkids) as well as your gathering people.LindaSuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01684545110832413808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5661648985137682830.post-88713850051141199112009-08-16T12:58:13.147-07:002009-08-16T12:58:13.147-07:00Lanny, I never would have guessed blue potatoes, b...Lanny, I never would have guessed blue potatoes, but it makes sense now that you've told me. :)

As far as the relationships with your siblings go, some people are close to their families and some are not. In a perfect world, it would be wonderful to have the love and support and companionship of a close family, but this isn't a perfect world, is it. I can see why it would be hard to be close to them when their beliefs are so different from yours.

As long as you have the relationship with God that you do and continue to have it, that seems to me like the right priority to have.

Happy Sunday to you!Conniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03865193802444007545noreply@blogger.com
