I've Gone All Girly Girly and It's T.V.'s Fault

I was looking on some different web sites today to see if I could find a picture of my ground beetle's larvae and pupae. I consistently come across a particular larvae and what I think for sure is a pupae in my garden soil when I am digging around and I wanted to make sure that I am supposed to be protecting it and not squishing it.

I love bugs, spiders, creepy crawlies, snakes, worm, and even slugs, if I get to torture them (hey they pick on me first!). I have never minded slimy, gooey, alien looking things, until today.

I couldn't take it anymore, I got all grossed out looking at beetle, larvae and pupae images on the net. I kept thinking that they were gonna get me, turn into an alien and carry me a way. Or worse my skin would incubate out thousands of their kind and eventually they would burst out and take over the world.

A few minutes of watching some sci-fi show called Fringe on the TV and I am officially over the edge. I saw Alien in the seventies, and Dirt and I watched the X-files the first year it was out, I have to listen to nut job radio every night and at least two nights a week if not more they talk all about creepy stuff.

But I have finally caved, I have finally reached creepy crawly scary saturation. I am like the ground in the PNW, too saturated to percolate and be of any use.

Now I have to undergo bug nightmare detox, along with my running experiment on sleeping, not anesthetizing just sleeping, half my brain at a time to get more time, this could become a very difficult spring.

Were you hanging around with CT and I this afternoon as were picking some kind of larvae out of the wood we were stacking? We could not identify it and I was considering looking it up on the net, but I think I will pass...I don't want nightmares tonight.( BTW, we found a bazillion of these larvae too)

Did you identify your little creepy crawlie?

Ooooh I'm not a big fan of slugs or anything slimy like that. The bugs don't bother me much but I'm not a big fan of spiders either.

oh, i absolutely hate (& I don't use that word often) the commercials for Fringe! Especially when we are watching a family-friendly show and before ya know it, up pops Fringe and the yuckiness that they show!!

What's Fringe? I haven't watched Network TV since we got DirecTV.

So, were your creepy crawlie's good or bad? I like bugs too ... outside, that is. :o)

Sorry Lanny - this is what my DH calls a self inflicted wound. Sorta like those drugstore cowboys who shoot themselves in the foot. You watched creepy stuff and now it is in your head like eggs from an alien (cue evil laughter soundtrack). You'll get over it - sometimes too much - really IS too much. I'm laughing here but I promise you - really truly it is WITH you not at you :::snickering::::::

Lanny, I never have been a big fan of creepy crawly things, so I can understand why this would give you nightmares! Oh my!

Well, did you find the right photo to match what you've found in your garden?

Well kill half of the little buggers and let the other half live..that way you will be half right. I don't mind bugs, or spiders..or worms..but snakes oh my..that is a whole nother story for this girl. I am very afraid..poisionus..non poisionous..it is an unrealistic fear I have had my entire life. How do you get only half your brain to sleep ?? :)
