Family Snow Day

Dirt was home from school today, his first day of Christmas break. So of course we played in the snow earlier today.

We take our simple sleds out back on a hill that is a hay field in the summer and goes down to a series of ponds Dale built to train his dogs. And yes, being out there made me miss him all over again.

The girls get their daring to do things like this on a sled from their genetics I am sure, but this sort of behavior was also encouraged by Dale.

And of course now we seem to always have his dogs with us. They really like to be in the thick of things with the girls.

While the girls' own dog would prefer to be digging around for a few hayfield rodents.

Unlike Martin, I willingly got into the act and went up and down quite a few times.

Your never to old (or migrainy) to have a whole lot of fun.

This is unusual for this blog isn't it. To have so many pictures of the writer. But I'm in a silly mood today that has lasted so you get to see what is usually never seen, at least from any camera I have control of, pictures of me.

Here I am sledding with Wilford Brimley' younger brother... Oh no, wait, I'll be darned that was when I was sledding with Dirt!
And of course we had to take Martin the Warrior Slayer of Rats along. But you won't catch me steering any recreational vehicles with Dirt aboard, ever since '97 and the Wave Runner ride... well, lets just say he is a mild driver of fun things, and I am not.

Dear Reader, I hope that you are having a good time with what ever weather God is blessing you with. That you are taking the time to see what he has for you to see in all of it, good, bad or just there. Because if we are spiritual people, God's children, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that we do that is not a spiritual matter.

I love the picture of you, Dirt and Martin sledding together. That is a winning picture and you should have it framed and put up on the wall. What fun you all had. Our ice is not so thick here, and the ducks were leaving slushy footprints on it as they waddled across the pond.

Oh my what a joyous time and I echo Kathy's comment - the picture of the three of you is a keeper. Thank you for sharing and yes - everything we do is spiritual so I have to take my temple upstairs and get some spiritual sweating going on the treadmill! I'd say enjoy yourselves but that is unnecessary advice -

we got more snow last night and supposed to get some today... so I'm sure we'll be doing the same thing. Although, we don't have any "real" sleds. We actually use garbage can lids... ya make do with what you have!
