Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

This is yesterday's scenery, it is very peaceful and pleasant.

Very calm and very serene.

This is light fog compared to what we have had for the last few days, but I still needed to see a little sunshine yesterday. I needed something besides soft, quiet, damp, steely blue. So I went with Dirt on his Saturday shearing job. He promised me sunshine. He promised me foothills above the clouds with some wind.

Well I had fun chit chatting with Dirt all the way down through the big valley and up the other side but the fog was actually thicker up in the foot hills. And even though it was fairly chilly it was not cold enough to make the fog exciting, nothing more than more lovely soft, quiet, damp, thicker steely blue fog.

Here are Dirt's clients. All waiting patiently for him to come and de-fleece them.

The first little guy is not so thrilled with his missing locks.

But Dirt just keeps on shearing and shearing.

And one by one the bags were filled.

Until the pen is empty.

Today the sun came out. I celebrated by making a yummy Clementine Cake, with orange curd filling and whipped cream for icing. Unfortunately it was racked before it cooled enough so two of the layers stuck to the rack. But it all went into the trifle bowl and now the fog it really gone.

Tomorrow there are more promises of sun, (I'm more confident in these promises after today!) Dirt is home and I am well and going to prune trees!

Sounds like you had a good day Lanny. Those first pictures do look mighty peaceful. I can certainly understand you needing the sun. I'm glad I got some sunshine yesterday.

Lanny - it is in the 50's here in North Texas right now - very windy and terribly dry. I'm glad you did this post - I remember distinctly why I needed to move away from the Pacific coast (lived in Humboldt County California for almost 10 years). I need sunshine - the lovely caressing fog is wonderful but I need to have the sun come out the next day. Making a cake is absolutely the right thing to do - orange curd sounds delish. Interesting adventures of shearing with Dirt -sometimes I wish I had "hair goats" but then reality strikes and I remember the idea of my life is to simplify. Thanks for coming by the blog - I think of your family so often. Strange to be without much family but that is my life - thank you for letting me peek into yours!

Hey, those sheep look familiar. It took me 3 hours to warm up after the shearing and cleaning the barn. I did hang a heat lamp for the little shivering sheepies. Thanks again...

That clementine cake sounds fabulous! WITH whipped cream... mmmm!

It was cloudy here most of the day but got up to 32 degrees so not bad! Heat wave coming on Wed and Thurs in the mid 40's. Supposed to have a little snow again by the weekend. Your photos are really nice.

Very nice, I did get a kick out of that one unhappy one after being fleeced.

Sounds like a good time; all you can see is white when you look out the windows here. Snow piled on top of snow, and not close to seeing ground except where shoveled. But at least the sun has been breaking through here, as well.

Man if you were to shear a critter around these parts right now they'd freeze their spots off.
Interesting. I helped shear some sheep many moons ago. I then took a long baaaath.

Those picture of the fog are great. For the last three days it has been in the 70's here. Quite unusal for our part of the country. But, tomorrow - snow.

Your photography is beautiful. Those photos really do evoke a peaceful feeling.

I smiled at the little girl peeking around the corner like she was ashamed of her nakedness! LOL

Smiles,

I love the sheep photos, Lanny. I'm glad the sun came out for you. We've had slightly warmer weather here the last couple of days, and I have been glad to see it.
