Quick, write something in ten minutes and then get in bed.
Uhhhh....
Oh I know, I gave the onions a haircut today. I know you've been wondering about them, so there you have it, an onion update. I do need to get a stronger grow bulb on them though they look too weak.
Put in my first seed order to Territorial Seed Co finally today, peas, toms, a couple of peps, a couple more onions and a little broccoli to get us started.
Tomorrow Steph and I will make up some seed starting soil, that is if Kai present comes in the morning like it was supposed to come today. He is coming out to watch it with me. I'll tell you what it is after we watch it, I promise!
I have a lot of work to do tomorrow before we go in for gathering. Dirt has a three day weekend but he will be shearing and finishing the duck pen.
Oh, look over on the side board and notice that someone has a new post up. Yeah Bet! I am hoping she has broken through her blogging slump. She has a lot of good things up in her little noggin that I wish she would share more of what is up there. Just good encouraging down to earth things.
The girls practiced parallel parking the other day. I hope they do again soon because I didn't get out to get pix before they were done. You gotta see what they used to practice on. Tooo funny. It is a good thing we live in the country and are off of a main road that's all I'm gonna say for now cause it has struck my bed time.
Sing some praises to your Creator and Sustainer tonight, He is waiting to hear from you and to whisper comfort in your ear. Listen to Him, its the only way to fly.

They Got Our Numbers, Well Dirt And Bet's That Is
Anna and I still appear to be flying under the radar.
But "they" know all about Dirt and EBet. Each received age appropriate mail today.
Well at least I hope that Dirt's mail was age prompted and not caused by a trip to the doctor or a EMT visit at school to revive him that I was unaware of,
because this is what Dirt received in the mail today. Now which would you rather be greeted with, a bold brazen reminder of your immortality or a bill to remind you of your past misplaced optimism in your personal economy?
But then again it could be because I went to the "nearly emergency room" nearly dying this last week, after all it is addressed to Dirt but it is for him to get us both ready to be planted or roasted. And because I always seem to end up making it all about me, I'll just leap there right now. It was for me!
But the cemetery ain't got reason to come for me this week. And Dirt's too busy to be bothered with kickin' the bucket, this week anyways, so we'll just ignore their good advice to "prepare" for the inevitable. I think we'll just wait till it happens. After all, what else would he or I have to do when the other of us pops off?
What did my Bet girl get you ask?
A little reminder that even though she has never set foot in a public school or private school as a student, our government knows she is out there, and they want to want her. Just fill out the form and if you don't have asthma they wanna talk.
Aww, I'd gladly give a child to the military, if I had a boy child. I just think it is funny that young people have to register, clearly they know she is here and how old she is.
But what did Bettikins do with her calendar? She leafed through it a little. I'm wondering if perhaps it will be a reminder to her that we here at home have a roll to play in it. Her momma is learning to be a better wife this last week so that her husband can go fight the good fight on the battle field that God has called him to. I wonder if she was looking at the calendar and in amongst noting the special days they show, she was wondering how to be supportive to those who serve us so well.
Well I've gotta go, love to stay and chat some more but my mind is still struggling to stay focused on any one thing to long. Last day of the drugs today. Hope their out of my system soon but mostly hoping this naggy cough heals up so I don't go down this psychotic episode road again. I've got some supplements and tomorrow is the day I get myself back into reporting in at the Sheet Diet. See you there or here.
God has us in the palm of his hand, Dear Reader, sink in and feel his hold on you today, I know I have and it feels ... indescribable. Nothing, Nothing, can remove me from Him.

A Good Idea
My father liked good ideas. He was always remarking on new things that were being built, or new ingenuities that were coming out. He had a positive outlook on things, and did not appreciate the doom and gloom that seems to pervade every generation.
When I was young it was the Communists and the nuclear bomb. My father instilled in me that no matter who tried to take over the world and run your life they could never own your heart and soul. It was not for sale or take over, unless you wanted it to be. I always knew that I could withstand anything, and no one could take from me what was most important.
Even the nuclear bomb, more years were stolen by the worry than by the bomb itself.
My father was a positive man and encouraged positive attitudes in us. Positive was the fuel that we ran on. He was a small business owner and I do believe that if he had not had a positive outlook on his world that he would not have had the success that he did.
In that spirit of looking at the positive I listened the other night to "nut job radio" and it wasn't too nutty that night. I believe it was Ian Punnett back on the third of this month. Talking Paradigm Shifts.
When I was in college taking Philosophy of Science we had to write our final paper on what we saw as a paradigm shift that had just occurred or was occurring. I don't quite remember what my paper was on but the concept of a paradigm shift stuck with me like glue. That and the concept of Gestalt moments. But you see I love change and these two things are all about change.
So when Ian Punnett was going to be talking to the guy who took the concept of Paradigm shift from the world of science to the rest of the world my brain perked up.
But then what I got out of the rest of the night was far more than tripping down memory lane and listening to something akin to a college class lecture on the beauty of seeing paradigm shifts. A term that I find so very popular right at the moment I am sure that I needn't stop to define it, I hope that is okay.
What this fellow, Joel Barker's ,whole point was is that we need to be looking for positive ingenuities in our lives. We always seem to focus on the negative like a moth to a flame, the negative attracts us. Focus on what is going wrong with the world and we miss the good stuff. The good stuff, the solutions, are on the back page, but we have worn ourselves out with the front page doom and gloom before we even get to the back page in order to see the good stuff for what it is.
Joel Barker would like to encourage all of us to take sometime to find out a little about all the positive stuff that is happening, so he put together a blog about the positive innovations that are coming out right now. Stuff that could fix most of the mess. (not all of it can be fixed and Jesus warned us of that clear as day).
Go see some of the cool things that he has found to put on his blog, things that will be making a big difference soon. His list of stuff even got me to thinking about some of the stuff not on his blog. Like mushrooms that can clean up toxic soils and such. Leaving the soils perfectly fine and on top of that not being toxic themselves. Where does all the toxin go?
Any woo. Joel suggests that we talk about these positives more often. Talk about them with our kids, like my dad always did, talking about how this country was built on ingenuity. I think we adults need to think about these things a little more instead of wrapping our heads around the depressing seemingly insurmountable garbage that we think about all the time.
Yeah we know this world is going to come to an end as we know it. It is in the playbook. This does not last forever. But none of us know when that is going to be. For generations and generations we have constantly "knew" that the last days were upon us. Well ya they are but so far we still are here and we still gotta get up in the morning stick the toothbrush in our mouth and our feet in our shoes and get on with getting on.
So how 'bout we do it with just a more positive outlook. Then if it does keep going for a while longer it will be a brighter going. And if it is all over soon, well heck that is the best part of the story ain't it. That we get a new heaven and earth and new bodies and an eternity with our God!? And no matter what lies between here and there, God is with us the whole way through. He hasn't just said He'll meet us on the other side. He is here with us, going the distance with us .
So please, put this_blog on your reader or your side board, however you keep track of things to read. And share the phenomenal things God is showing man how to do, with your kids, your tired discouraged spouse or your sad neighbor. Get off this kick of dwelling on the negative.

Still Tripping
Can't wait to get off this stuff. I do not see how other people can take it. I am glad I checked out what the side effects are because I would have thought I had gone crazy. Bipolar to be exact.
Mania. Wow. Thoughts are racing. And they are not all good or interesting or funny. But my house is getting pretty clean.
I thought it would be better when my dose lowered but I'm on just a third of the original dose and I am still wired, rubber band tight. The gut issue is not as bad. Ya woo, now I can also apply the mania to eating. That oughta look sweet!
I think it is a funny thing about me, when I have a reason, like surgery, to take a a sedative or even anesthesia it takes triple doses to knock me out. But give me something that might wire people out or give them borderline psychotic episodes and watch out Tasmanian Devil here I come. But I can drink coffee all evening long and still fall asleep just fine and rarely have I drunk so much coffee as to get "jittery".
Well I am tanked up on Sleepy Time tea and extra Valerian and I am going off to bed. I can't really think a straight line anyway. Even a Lanny straight line, which as we all know is no straight line for sure.
So I am off to bed. Tomorrow I am going to expend my mania on driving and shopping and planning the rest of my life. (Phil's nervous but I think I can do this and not veer from the shopping list. Although I have had knocking out walls and major painting projects running through my brain but the girls are babysitting me tomorrow.)
Wednesday, I hope to be normal, okay, my normal, and back here with something funny or compelling to talk about. My fond desire is to never blog about my health again but unfortunately I've arrived at that age haven't I?

Not Off The Face Of the Earth
Unfortunately, I am still here. Thanks mostly to Prednisone. And thanks to same said Prednisone it was not safe for me to blog for a few days. Don't know how some folks take this stuff but when I was on the high dose for three days so I could breath, I was kinda freaking out. couldn't sleep, weird thoughts, bad gut. Feeling better today, now that I am beginning on the taper down doses.
New Tozer book from Terry is great and as soon as I know my head is clear from bizarre thoughts I'll share lots.
My grandson Kai had his seventh birthday today, we joined the rest of the family for a night out on the town at his favorite restaurant, Brank's for barbecue. Then back to his dad and mom's for Aunty Bet's homemade, totally from scratch, including drilling the fresh coconut, coconut cake. I am glad that she loves to make it, because I love to eat it. But I was a good little non-overindulger and had just one piece.
Dirt, (gotta mention the Dirt every once in a while eh?) he hates coconut. Won't touch it. Well except for the coconut cookies that I used to make, mostly coconut but you couldn't tell. Yep, he ate nearly all of them.
Glad that her Daddy's dislike for coconut doesn't stop EBet from making the cake. I think she needs more practice with cake though so I have her talked into cake once a week and once a month it could be coconut! Oh, but she can't stop making her pies though, we should get those and cake.
Just thought I'd let you know I'm still here, didn't stop breathing, didn't float away. The girls and I will have birthday pix and stories tomorrow. Well actually today, but I haven't shut my eyes for longer than a blink so it is still Saturday, not Sunday like the heading is most likely gonna say. Not saying it is lying, just saying we have different perspectives on a day.
Praying for all those flood victums around our soggy state. Wondering how they are all doing, wish I could have gone and filled sand bags but breathing was kinda important.
Weird post for me, maybe, but I warned you I am under the influence of drugs, well that and Luden's Wild Cherry cough drops. Dirt bought them for me. Just like his daughters, I can get anything from him, I just have to keep my choices under two bucks!

All Done With Christmas, Have a Blessed Epiphany Day Today
Well the first of fourteen loads of dishes are in the dishwasher, my tea is hot and I need to sit already so I will tell you all about our Twelfth Night Party we had last night here at Vicktory Farm and Gardens.
My Christmas Kitty, still not really named, and I spent the better part of yesterday like this. She read the paper, I read the stack of seed catalogs at the top of the picture, and also did some dorking on the computer. But for the most part we were lazy lazy lazy.
Until I heard some cute little voices. This is Aksel. Have you met him before? He is the youngest of my oldest. If you read about ice skating on the pasture pond here at Vicktory Farm and Garden he was the one who had issues and just laid down on the ice. He may look like our Nordic Boy but he sure likes to be warm and dry.
Since it is Three Kings Day and we will be singing We Three Kings From Orient Are, we will be eating oriental food, or at least the best facsimile the Vick Chicks can come up with. So, what did you bring with you?
Oh, the Chow Mien looks tasty. I think we can work with that,
Look what I made, Orange Chicken. I worked so hard, cutting the chicken, breading it, frying it making the orange sau..... Oh wait, I already told you CK and I napped all day. Your right Costco and Dirt made this.
The third batch of white rice? You must be joking? And you girls think I'm the perfectionist!? Poor Bet, she just cannot get the knack of cooking white rice. It is a mind boggler you know, boil water, put in the rice, cook it... Better get with it girl, you can't eat pie and beautiful breads forever, or can you?
Now the kitchen is really crowded. Eric? What are you doing in here? Why aren't you out with Dirt and me watching the Longhorns gore the whatevers? Hey, at least I know they are playing Ohio!
Dinner was great, no fancy table setting just grab a plate grab some food and find a chair, preferably not my end of the couch thanks.
Ah the Red Velvet cake has arrived, and is getting preped. It sure looks red this year!
You know I do have larger cake plates girls. But yes the colors are pretty together so I will say no more. Except, yum, hurry up!
Now that is nice. Hey that non-nut eating Eric isn't getting that whole other half is he?
Oooh, very pretty and very tasty, lets just leave it in here and not tell that living room crew, they won't notice.
They are being entertained by Aksel being entertained. He has found Lanny's lamp and how it turns on.

and off on one side. Or both sides and it does it fast or slow or together...

or separate.
Hey, I think Aksel hears cake being served. Now that might distract him from Lanny's lamp!
"Hey dad, you got some cake and ice cream!"
"I'm thinking I need some!" Well the game was good, even though Dirt is grumpy that Colt McCoy received some award after the game and not his receiver. Dirt is picky, he likes credit to go to the very right place and not just the typical "oh we won, give the Quarterback the award!"

The girls and Aksel sure had a lot of fun in the dining room. It was very loud. But that is all I am going to say, Anna will tell you all about it when she gets done doing all the dishes today!
My goodness my girls can use a lot of dishes. We all enjoyed the food but there were several votes to marry someone off to a nice Asian Chef, okay he doesn't have to be a chef but cooking skills in his native dishes will be a must because no matter how we NE's (N-northern E- European) try we cannot achieve an above adequate Three Kings Feast. I'm think the interview process will just be a lovely meal cooked by the applicant. (After cleaning up this morning I am sure that this is God's will for the girls. How many pots can you use? Oh yah, that's right, three just for the rice! )
It was a very good night after all even though it got off on a bad foot when Dirt got home. Minus most all of the things I needed for my Ol' Befana lay out!

Holidays and Football; Even Holidays Mosta Ya Ain't Hearda.
Way to go Longhorns!
Although Ohio did have a great catch in there. Not a freak about football but if it is destined to invade every holiday ever imagined then you learn at an early age to go with the flow! I understand very little but the rudimentaries of the game. Just enough to get me by. Or get me yelled at cause they expect more from me.
But ohhh doggy I can shore git fired up over a game I barely know. A well known fact that drives my son in law, Eric insane. I think, while he appreciates my enthusiasm for the game, he would like it if I knew exactly what I was cheering for. Heck sometimes I'm just cheering for more PopEye muscles.
Used to be I really liked the pants. I especially liked the teams that dressed their big strapping muscle bound men in lame'. Until I watched Joe Thiesman's leg snap in half. I don't look at the legs no more, uh uh. I am so thankful that tivo was not around then, the replay was bad enough. We wouldn't have watched anything else for a month. Do you know how many slow speeds there are on tivo and how many times Dirt can watch one simple non-game-making play?
And goodness gracious those uniform designers knew that I stopped looking cause they got into designing for the whole arm thing. Yeah the boys explained that it gave greater range of motion and wasn''t all flappy lots of material to grab. Uh huh you go on believing that's why it changed.
I'm thinking that if they are so worried about the excess material being grabbed then what are some of those fellas doing letting their corn rows out? They got four miles of loose material floating behind them and that material is attached to their head.
Funny how basketball went to the more material thing as they got more contacty
Big BTW (so then if it is "big" is it a "by the way", which is meant to convey nonchalantness?) the whole mysterious G commercial in the Rose Bowl and tonight's Fiesta Bowl?, a Gatorade commercial. No biggy. No life saving, sports saving movement afoot. Just more nasty Gatorade.
See you all tomorrow with some cute pics of the baby boy and the big boy and some yummy food. Just keeping it a little sumpin for everyone!
